Cushion Covers, Hand Block Printed in Jaipur

Each cushion cover in this collection begins with a hand-carved wooden block and a single artisan in our Jaipur workshop. It is the same process behind every cushion cover we make, whether the print is a Jaipur street scene or a simple floral motif. The block is dipped in dye and pressed onto 100% cotton by hand, then left to dry under the Rajasthan sun. No two prints turn out quite the same, which is part of what makes a hand block print piece feel personal rather than mass produced.

We work mostly in the 16x16 inch size, the most versatile fit for sofas, chairs and beds. The cotton is soft against the skin, breathable through summer, and holds its colour through repeated washes.


Styling tips

A few ways our customers like to use their covers:

  • Mix two or three prints from the same Rang or Atrangi collection for a layered, lived-in look
  • Pair one bold cushion cover with plain upholstery so the block print does the talking
  • Rotate by season, lighter florals through summer, deeper turban and rickshaw motifs through winter

Hand block printing is one of Jaipur's oldest crafts, passed down through generations of karigars. Choosing a piece from this collection supports that craft directly, rather than a factory line. Small variations in the print are part of the design, not a flaw.
